William
Saturday, February 7th, 2009Will was brought up in Bristol, but his family are originally from Fife. He had always longed to make Scotland home and has finally achieved this, moving to Perthshire in 2006. Will joined Callander Dental Practice in 2008, and is enjoying meeting many new patients.
His training has been long and varied. He graduated from the University of Wales in 1997. He spent some time in an oral surgery position in Cardiff before moving to the USA to study for his PhD at Harvard Medical School. After returning to the UK Will has worked in general dental practice both within the NHS and privately.
Since returning to general practice will has worked hard to expand his skills so that he can offer the latest in techniques to the highest standards. He has completed a year long restorative course in Manchester. He has also been awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Endodontics (root canal treatment) from the University of Chester, part of a Masters Degree Programme. His interest in endodontics and this further training has led to Will accepting referrals for complex treatments from his collegues.
Jo-Ann is our youngest member of staff She works part time and also covers holiday leave for the other dental nurses. She is currently studying at Falkirk College to become another qualified member of this team. For the past year Joann has been mainly nursing and is now learning more about front desk and computer skills. She is also kept busy with her 4 year old son Gary enjoying swimming at the local pool, walking and when she can get a baby sitter is glad of a few drinks in the many pubs in Callander with her partner Stuart.
Nicola has been with us since 1994 working as a receptionist & dental nurse. She qualified in 1997 from Falkirk Royal Infirmary and is currently studying Environmental Science at Open University. Nic likes the short distance between home and work and winding Alistair up when she gets there! When not working, Nic enjoys socialising in Callanders many friendly watering holes. She also goes to the local sports centre to use the pool when it isn’t heaving with school kids. Nic has two cats, Spud & Mia, a rottweiller called Dean.
I’ve been Alistair’s hygienist for the past 9 years. I’ve been in dentistry since 1974 when I trained as a dental nurse in Glasgow and Alistair was a very young student. I then went to London to do the therapist course before returning to Glasgow and qualifying from course number 1 as a hygienist in 1980. I am the second oldest of this very young team!!! I work part time in Callander and 2 days in another practice. I live in Doune, a small village 8 miles from Callander, with my husband and two teenagers. It has been known for me to enjoy the odd refreshment and I spend a lot of my spare time walking my 2 black labradors around the country walks in Doune.
Lesley Feather BDS qualified from Edinburgh Dental School in 1993 and has practiced mostly in Macduff in Aberdeenshire. She enjoys gums and hillwalking and general family dentistry
